i stepped aside as elder in a foreign language congregation with a resignation letter in august.. i cited doubts in doctrine concerning "this generation" and 1975, and also said i don't "know".
the governing body well enough to teach their doctrine.
Either way. Turning in ZERO is saying, "I did not forget to turn in the slip."
It's a little more "in your face" and at the same time, more obedient than
not turning in a slip. Actually, for February, I didn't bother to give a slip-
I think they know what my time is.
If you count the time that you post here you could turn in a negative number like -5 hours or something. That would get them going.

i went there to attend my sister-in-law's funeral.
on the program they had a picture of her as a pretty young woman about the time i met her and my wife.
How long did it take before someone in the Kingdom Hall offer to study with you and bring you back into the so-called "truth"?
She went to a hall in a different county than were I live and it has been so long I don't think any of them there would know much about me. No one in the family treats me like the tower tell them to so I doubt if any of them knew I was ever a JW. I have a goatee so that is a dead give away that I'm not in the club. My wife's brother who never was a JW told me he was irritated by the sale pitch style message. I spoke with a guy my wife and her sister work with years ago who came. I told him I hated the religion he said felt the same way and hated being in a KH but would do anything to support my wife. I've known him and several of his brothers for years but didn't know that one of them was married to a JW till he told me one of them was yesterday. He asked me if my wife "walks the neighborhood" like his sister-in-law. I thought that was a funny way of putting it. He said my wife never brought her religion up at work. I was glad to hear that.

Yesterday was the first time I stepped into a Kingdom Hall in over twenty- five years. I went there to attend my sister-in-law's funeral. On the program they had a picture of her as a pretty young woman about the time I met her and my wife. I thought back to all the hope and dreams of she had at that time of living in the new order. She was full of life and fun to be around back then. What was going on now was never supposed to have happened. Everyone should be young and healthy living in a paradise by now. Mostly I felt awful for my wife. The message spoken sounded stale and out of date. A dream that never happened and never will. I felt sorry for all of them.

For the record, in my case- I am thrilled that they take
no action to help me. I hope that it continues.
The same thing happened in my case. I found it sad that after knowing them for many years no one made any effort to try to stop me from leaving but on the other had it proved my point that the whole this was based on conformity and fear. I had no intention of ever going back and their lack of concern made it much easier. I would think they probably get orders from the society that the best way to deal with people like you is to ignore you and hope you just go away. If they confront you others would hear about it and they really don't want anyone to start thinking. When I could no longer believe in what they taught and told my wife it was amazing how quickly the word spread. The elders called me right away and wanted to meet with me but once I laid the ground rules down (I also wanted my wife there and someone else there to witness the proceedings) they said they would have to get back to me. They never did. When I asked my wife what was going on she said they told her I had already made my decision so there was no point in talking with me and that was it.
By the way yesterday was the first time I set foot in a Kingdom Hall in over 25 years. I went to attend my sister-in-laws funeral. I think I'll start a thread on this subject.
over the last 12 months i have been invited to 3 funerals for dubs that was held more that a week after the person died so that more people could attend.. each of the funerals were held on a saturday and there was a community center or hall rented out where food and drinks were served.
all 3 had over 300 people attending and each lasted several hours.. i think the dubs are so straved for get togethers, that they use a funeral as a means to get together.. .
has anyone else noticed this trend in your area?.
I never knew you were such a funny guy. " My husband asked ' what did he mean ?'.... this "brother' tells him that at the memorial dinner they showed videos of the humorous skits the brothers(my husband included ) had made a few years ago. The man that had just died had a great sense of humor .......but ,come on really.... at the funeral dinner ! wow
I guess things like this are getting pretty common. A few weeks ago I went to a funeral for a friend who wasn't a dub. They had a lot of boards with photos on them. They also have a website for donations to the family. He was a popular little league coach in my area. This weekend I have to go to a funeral for my sister-in-law who was a JW. They wanted to do a slide presentation but I think they are just going to go with a lot of photos. I guess it was only a matter of time before hi-tech came to funerals. This will be the first JW function I have been to since I left years ago. She just passed away this morning but we have been expecting it for a few days now. A pretty crappy day around here.

Interesting, I wonder how that works. I think what they mean is that the DNA found there proves that the people that were laid there were of Middle Eastern descent. It always amazes me how on this type of show they can have so little that is actual fact yet milk an hour or two out of what they have. Anyway some of these types of show are fun to watch and I have already made up my mind to believe anything they say on this one.
